Mexico, especially the Yucatan Peninsula, is a magical and unique place where you can live an unforgettable diving experience in discovering the cenotes.
The cenotes (from the Mayan dz'onot) are potholes or sinkholes filled with fresh water, fresh and clear up to several tens of meters deep. Located in the middle of the jungle, cenotes may communicate with the sea and hence offer shows mixtures of seawater and freshwater called "halocline".
Between stalactites and stalagmites, cenotes will bring you back in time, since the Mayans believed these wells as a means of communication with the gods of the infra-world, the chasm representing a mouth. They were used as fresh water supply, but also as a place of worship in which offerings or sacrificial victims were thrown.
From level PADI Open Water, you can explore the cenotes of Yucatan supervised by specially trained guides cenotes in cave exploration. They will ensure your safety and explain all the safety rules specific to this exploration.
